T&Cs and FAQs

How far in advance should I book my wedding cake order?

I design, sketch, bake and decorate each cake, and this is the reason I take a limited number of commissions each year. I recommend you to get in touch as soon as you have your event date and venue confirmed.

Can I taste the cakes?

I offer signature cake tasting boxes for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home ( UK addresses only). These can be ordered from the online shop. The signature cake tasting boxes have six of my most popular cake flavours. This service operates twice a year and is available for pre order.

How much will my cake cost?

Each cake is quoted on an individual basis and it just wont be possible for me to give you an exact figure here. The final price will depend on the number of servings and the complexity of the cake design. As a guide : Two tier cakes start from £400

Can I have different flavours?

Absolutely! Although I usually recommend to limit the flavours to three. This way you get to incorporate your personal favourite.

Can I have a fake tier to reduce the cost of my wedding cake?

The real cost of a wedding cake is in the time that takes to decorate it. There is a whole lot of work and time involved in designing and planning your wedding cake before I even start baking it and this is the reason why cakes are priced individually. I also do not support the idea of fake tiers as the dummy cakes just end up in the bin. I have to be conscious of the impact my business has on the environment and for this reason I do not offer fake tier cakes.

Do you only make wedding cakes?

Aside from wedding cakes, I also have created a selection of single tier celebration cakes and hand painted cookies which are perfect as gifts. These are available to buy from the online shop. However, if you are after a bespoke design, please feel free to get in touch via email at info@lemon-tree-cakes.co.uk

Can I make any changes to the cake design?

Should you wish to make any changes to the cake design, these should be made no later than 30 days prior to the event date. Any changes must be confirmed in writing or via email. Please note that this may affect the balance due and will be adjusted accordingly.

What is the shelf life of the cakes and cookies?

Cakes should ideally be consumed within 2 days of delivery. Please note that sponge cakes need to be eaten as soon as possible as once cut they will begin to dry out when in contact with air. Cookies will last for up to 3 weeks if stored in an air tight container.

How should I store my cake?

I advise that all cakes should be stored in the box provided in a cool room where they will not be moved or knocked over. Cakes covered in sugar paste and sugarflowers should not be refrigerated. Please avoid displaying your cakes in direct sunlight, under spotlights or near candles.

Will you deliver my wedding cake?

Of course! Your cake will be suitably protected for its journey before being delivered to you. Delivery and set-up of your wedding cake within central London is charged at a flat fee of £60 and is dependant on availability. Deliveries outside central London will be charged based on distance from my premises in East London. Once delivered the person in charge will need to sign the delivery note to say the cake arrived in perfect condition. Lemon Tree Cakes accepts no liability for any damages to the cake thereafter. Weather or unexpected events may on occassion make your venue inaccessible. Please be assured I will always do my best to deliver as pre-arranged. If delivery is attempted and I am unable to set-up the cake at the venue, (for example the venue is not ready) I will leave the cake with the banquetting team.

Do you provide cake stands?

At present I do not hire out cake stands, as most venues are able to provide these. I recommend you liaise with your venue regarding hiring of cake stands.

I missed my delivery, can you re-deliver?

In the unlikely event where a customer is unavailable to take delivery of Cookies, Royal Mail may deliver the package to a neighbour under the "Leave with Neighbour" policy and should leave a card to say where the parcel has been left. This is at the driver's discretion and does not always happen. If a card has been left, it should list the details of the local sorting office which the customer can get in touch with to arrange re-delivery. If the delivery subsequently fails or the customer refuses to take delivery then the goods will be returend to Lemon Tree Cakes. Any new delivery charges incurred due to such an error will be passed on to the customer.

Once the balance has been paid, work will start on your cake. Failure to complete payment 30 days prior to the event date may result in your cake order being cancelled. Payments can be made by bank transfer. Alternatively you can also reserve your date with a £150 non-refundable holding deposit and decide on your design at a later date. Cookie orders need to be paid in full at the time of booking. Please note that if you wish to cancel your cookie order you must do so in writing via email within 1 hour of placing your order. What is in your cookies?

Cookie Ingredients : Wheat Flour, Butter (Milk), Sugar, Egg, Vanilla Extract.
